Lost Car Keys and the Locksmith

Locksmith expertise used to be limited to the manufacture of keys and locks often for home and commercial use. I know, because when I worked as a Federal Way locksmith this was the case. This is where the term was actually derived. However, following the manufacture of many other different things, notably automobiles, the typical lock expert eventually had to venture out to creating car keys as well.

These days, locksmiths are said to be more professional as some form of training has become essential for them to be effective at their jobs. This is especially true in cases where the issue involved has to do with manufacturing keys for various types of cars.

For obvious reasons, car keys tend to be more complex as they are essential in helping different vehicles start up successfully. As such, creating these keys will require the acquisition of certain skills to ensure that they will work.

In general, though, car keys, including duplicates, are provided to the owner soon after purchasing the vehicle. The problem here is when the duplicate keys are misplaced, for which a replacement will have to be considered. This is where the services of a good Locksmith may be required, but it is best if the problem is referred initially to the car dealer where the sale was made. This is because the so-called key code will be needed in order for the duplicate to be created.

There is also the issue about some car keys bearing the mark of ‘Do Not Copy’. Actually, such keys can still be duplicated provided an authorization letter can be properly presented along with an official key duplication request. A few other details, including how many duplicates are being requested, may have to be provided in the letter.

In any case, the process of getting a car key duplicated is not entirely difficult given the kind of modern equipments that are currently available to present-day lock professionals. Locksmith expertise is hardly an issue as well since many locksmiths have sufficient knowledge about their jobs.

Growing Abuse Of Drugs Amongst Teens

With the recent legislation passed to legalize marijuana for recreational use in Washington and Colorado, it seems the acceptance of drug use is becoming more and more accepted in America. However where does the right for freedom begin to infringe on the best interests of society? It seems that America is going down a slippery slope when it comes to the use of drugs, especially amongst teens. So what can be done to protect your teenager from becoming a drug addict and eventually ruining his/her life?

Driven by the media and outlets like Facebook and Twitter, it seems that drugs are becoming more accepted in America. A recent survey shown that teenagers between the ages of 14-18 have used or tried marijuana with an astounding 80%. This is much higher than it was only a decade ago, and now with the legalization of marijuana this number is very likely to rise. So what’s the problem with this?

Well lets be honest, marijuana use has never been linked to anything productive. Sure many people will argue that someone can smoke weed on a regular basis and operate fine, but this is not necessarily the norm, and no one can say that marijuana use makes you a more productive person. Add to this the fact that many other recreational drug use is on the rise. Things like MDMA and Cocaine, and even bodybuilding drugs like prohormones and steroids are on the rise as well. Clearly this is due to the gradual acceptance over the years of drug use in our society.

So what can we do as parents to protect our kids from becoming drug users? The best way of course is to have an open channel of communication with your teen. You have to accept that your teenager will be exposed to drugs at some point in time, and it is your job as a parent to do your best to show them that drugs can be harmful. Spend time with your teen, let them know that you are here for them. I practice basketball plays with my son a couple of times a week for an hour, and during this time I get to spend time with him and slip in some pearls of wisdom in between points. They need to be educated on the topic rather than scolded, and that is our job as parents. We need to instill values in our children that will allow them to make the right choices when they are faced with the pressure to use drugs.

And what if your teenager already uses drugs? It is important if you do find out that if your teenager does use drugs that you do not condemn them, but rather be a voice of support and try to reason with them to quit or get professional help. By scolding your teenager you will only make them want to rebel more, and this may lead them to turn to increased drug use or even worse attempt to do drugs that are much more harmful than marijuana alone.

Remember that even despite the recent changes in society, we can do our best to be good parents to ensure that our teenagers do not fall “in the norm”. Drug use though accepted is not normal, and it should in no way be encouraged. Sit and have a serious discussion with our teen and find out how they view drugs. Remember prevention is they key, and having an open channel of communication with your teenager will go a long way in building a loving and strong relationship.
