ABOUT MIELLE
The relationship between humans and the natural world is imprinted on the rural landscape. Mielle Riggie spent her first 18 years within the Vermont countryside and her artwork continually reflects issues of balance and bridges as she combines disparate materials and elements to illustrate the push and pull of humans with their internal and external surroundings.
Mielle and her husband Ted returned to New England in 2009. Seattle was their home for ten years largely in order to work with Pilchuck Glass School and Northwest artists. Mielle earned her BFA from Alfred University, Alfred, NY in 1997 and her MFA through the University of Washington Fibers program in 2007.
